I own a chinese moped called Longbo LBQT-6. It is a very common frame in the moped world. I believe (and i do stress believe) that it is a GY6 motor. What kind of oil should I use and how often should i change it? (example 10w 40, 5w 40, 15w 40, etc)

You should use 15W-40 oil. There is no reason to use a synthetic on the GY6 engine. I recommend owners change oil every 400 miles and I would do the first change at 100 miles or less. Your LBQT-6 does have a QY6 engine as do most all 50cc scooters made in Japan, Taiwan and China. Longbo scooters are by the second largest chinese manufacturer and they has been in business since 1989. Your Longbo scooter should give you a long life if it receives proper care and maintenance.
