I am doing a "poll" for a compare/contrast speech.
I need to clarify...
I am trying to get "the average person's opinion" on the difference between them, not learn about it myself.

A scooter is a type of moped. Normally a "step-through" design, with an upright seat and foot rests straight infront of the knees.

A moped is any vehicle with an engine size of 50cc or less and a maximum speed of no more than 31mph. This could be a scooter (described above) or a typical motorBIKE design, just with a small engine.

Before 1977, any 'moped' had pedals to be powered, but pedals are very rarely if not never put on modern day mopeds.

    nothing really

Technically, a moped has an engine and pedals for steep hills. Scooters only have an engine.

Well, scooter I think about the one you push with your feet. A moped is electric or motorized.

Scooters are defined by the CC engine (usually 125cc and above) and that you are required to get a motorycle endorsement on your Driver’s license in order to operate. Are usually 4 stroke engines

Moped are usually under 80cc, usually requires and operational permit or just a moped registration (no endorsement on your license) in order to operate. Are usually 2 stroke engines.

However, these mandates are subjected to your state and county laws.

    A moped has pedals, a scooter doesn’t.

A moped has pedals, so it can also be ridden like a bicycle, with the engine not running..

A scooter has a step through frame and floor boards instead of foot pegs.
