They are not supposed to exceed 30mph, and still be a moped. When it does it becomes a Motorcycle license wise. Exceed 30 without an endorsement and you`ll see some phat fines $$$
anyway, Which one are you talking about? They all vary. They all go slow uphill.
My wife and I recently purchased a 49cc Yamaha C-3. The speedometer registers 40mph. I am riding it until my wife feels more comfortable with it. I weigh 245lb and have pegged the speedometer on flat road and of course going down hill. Traveling up a long steep grade, it will slow down to about 15mph.
As for seperate licenses anything over 49cc requires a motorcycle license, 49cc and under does not require a seperate license. The potential speed has nothing to do with license requirement.
NORTH LIMA, Ohio, (October 18, 2005) – In a recent AMA-sanctioned competition that was a bit of a departure from winning everything imaginable in the world of mini cycle racing, Cobra engineers, in cooperation with Alabama-based Wagner Racing, mounted an American-built Cobra 50cc engine into a custom motorcycle and made two passes at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats – achieving a two run average speed of nearly 75 miles per hour and breaking the previous land speed record in its class by five mph.
The Cobra-powered bike broke the old AMA 50cc AG (Altered Gasoline) record of 69.633 mph by running a wind-aided 78.399 mph on the first pass, then coming back into a headwind at 71.106 mph – for an official combined time of 74.852.
I think you’ll most of these answer’s are the same. There build is intended to get through town(speeds around 25 mph) with the ability to maneuver if necessary (+10). Factors that sway this= rider weight, terrain, fuel, Mechanical integrity, and weather. So in summation around 35 mph.
I removed the speed control from my Buddy 50 and on long flat road I was able to get it up to 51mph according to the buddy speedo. I’m sure it was really closer to 45. I haven’t had a chance to run with my GPS unit yet to see how far off the speedo is.
30 to 35 miles per hour top end speed. If you want to get to top end speed faster you would have to make some modifications. If you want to get an additional 10 to 15 miles per hour, upjet your Carburetor. 2 Strokes have better zip than that of a 4 stroke, even on a flat road.
Remember that it uses oil and gas together. So, make sure that you use the correct 2 stroke oil as you will have to make sure that you have it in the storage compartment because it mixes with the gas.
